Sajeewani sabinaurs@gmail.com
Endometriosis, a painful benign gynecological condition characterized by the ectopic growth of endometrial tissue, is often associated with dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain, dysperunia, fatigue, and infertility. The prevalence of Endometriosis in women of reproductive age is 6-10%.In Ayurveda, this condition closely aligns with Vatala Yoni Vyapad, where an aggravated Vata dosha disrupts the normal functioning of the reproductive system. This case report presents a 34-year-old married nalliparous woman diagnosed with Grade IV endometriosis, confirmed by laparotomy. She presented with severe pelvic pain, irregular menstruation, and chronic fatigue. The aim and objectives of this single case study was evaluate the effect and efficacy of Ama pachana,Agni Deepana Chikitsa,Shodhana Chikitsa , including Virechana and Basti (Matra and Yoga Basti) and Shamana chikitsa in the management of Endometriosis. An Ayurveda treatment protocol was initiated, focusing on pacifying Vata promoting Agni Deepana (digestive fire stimulation), and eliminating Ama (toxins). Additionally, Udara Pattu (abdominal poultice) was applied to relieve local discomfort. End of the treatment the patient showed marked improvement with reduced pain, normalized cycles, and enhanced overall well-being. This case highlights the potential of individualized Ayurveda management in alleviating endometriosis symptoms and improving reproductive health.
2025-09-13T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/771 Management of Idiopathic Sensorimotor Axonal Peripheral Neuropathy through Panchakarma: A Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:54+00:00 Kruti Ketankumar Raicha krutiraicha@gmail.com Anup Thakar anup_thakar@yahoo.com
Peripheral neuropathy refers to conditions that involve damage to the peripheral nervous system which is a large communication network that sends signals between the central nervous system and all other parts of the body. The present study deals with a 55 years old female patient working as a housewife came with complaints of pain at both hands and feet, burning sensation, weakness and numbness at both feet associated with disturbed sleep and burning sensation in abdomen on consumption of pungent, sour, salt and hot food substances since last 1 year. Patient was previously diagnosed based on EMG study which showed electrophysiological evidence of sensory motor peripheral neuropathy of axonal type involving bilateral lower limbs. Ayurvedic diagnosis of Pittavritta Vata was made because of its resemblance to presenting symptoms. Patient was treated with Udwartana (~dry powder massage), Virechana Karma (~purgation therapy), Ksheera Basti (~milk decoction enema) and Shamana Snehapana (~medicated ghee intake). After treatment, marked improvement was seen in symptoms, reduction in VAS score and NPS score. Panchakarma therapies were found highly effective in reducing symptom score as well as in improving quality of life of patients.
2025-09-13T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/781 Ayurvedic Management of Dagdha Vrana with respect to Second Degree Burn: A Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:54+00:00 Dhruvi Savaliya dhruvisavaliya9@gmail.com Reshma Rajeevan reshmacooldoc1994@gmail.com Pashmina Joshi pbj@itra.edu.in TS Dudhamal drtsdudhamal@gmail.com
Burns involve coagulative tissue necrosis and epithelial loss due to drastic change in temperature. In diabetic individuals, such injuries are often complicated by persistent discharge, delayed tissue repair, hypertrophic scarring, and contractures. Despite advances in modern medicine, gaps such as prolonged antibiotic use, delayed epithelialization, recurrent contractures, and high treatment cost remain. Ayurveda offers promising alternatives that promote faster recovery and minimal scarring. A 63-year-old male with type 2 diabetes mellitus presented with a non-healing ulcer over the anteromedial aspect of the left knee joint, one month after an accidental hot water burn. The wound showed slough, pale granulation tissue, and purulent discharge. The condition was diagnosed as a second-degree burn and correlated with Durdagdha Vrana in Ayurvedic parlance. Treatment included Vrana Prakshalana (wound irrigation) with Nimba Kwatha and dressing with Apamarga Kshara Taila for 21 days, followed by application of Yashtimadhu Ghritha until healing. Oral medications—Kaishora Guggulu (one gram, thrice daily before food with warm water) and Eranda Bhrishta Haritaki (five gram at bedtime with warm water) were administered throughout the treatment period. The patient achieved complete wound healing by Day 72, with restoration of knee joint function and no complications such as infection, hypertrophic scarring, or contracture. Notably, the ulcer was located at the knee joint, a site described by Acharya Sushrutha as Kṛcchrasadhya (difficult to heal) due to constant movement, yet the outcome demonstrates successful management. This case demonstrates the novel application of Apamarga Kshara Taila in burn wound debridement, integrated with Ayurvedic wound-healing strategies, offering a safe and cost-effective approach in metabolically compromised patients.
2025-09-13T07:27:54+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/779 Effect of Jatamansadi Panaka- A Sri Lankan Traditional Herbal Syrup in the Management of Anidra (Insomnia): A Case Study 2025-09-16T18:36:54+00:00 Guruge A.G.R.V. viharag01@gmail.com Thanuja Priyanganie Gunarathna priyangiedtp@fim.cmb.ac.lk Kulathunga RDH krdhkanthi@fim.cmb.ac.lk Dhahanayake JM jeevanimd@fim.cmb.ac.lk
Anidra, commonly correlated with insomnia, is a prevalent sleep disorder affecting millions worldwide. This case study investigates the therapeutic potential of Jatamansadi Panaka, a traditional Sri Lankan herbal syrup, in the management of Anidra. The objective was to evaluate the efficacy of Jatamansadi Panaka in improving sleep quality and associated symptoms. The formulation contains Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Ela (Elettaria cardamomum), Maricha (Piper nigrum), Patala Pushpa (Rosa indica), and Ikshu (Saccharum officinarum). A 71-year-old male patient diagnosed with Anidra at the Ayurveda National Hospital, Colombo, Sri Lanka, was enrolled after obtaining written informed consent. The patient received 18 ml of Jatamansadi Panaka once daily at bedtime for two weeks, followed by a two-week observation period without treatment. Treatment efficacy was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Results demonstrated a 100% improvement in overall sleep quality, along with significant reductions in physical symptoms of insomnia. Improvements in emotional disturbances, daytime functioning, and quality of life were noted at 50% by the end of the first week and sustained throughout the treatment and follow-up phases. The findings suggest that Jatamansadi Panaka is effective in enhancing sleep quality and overall well-being, with no reported adverse effects. This case highlights its potential as a complementary therapeutic option for Anidra. Further clinical studies with larger sample sizes are required to standardize the formulation and validate these preliminary observations.
2025-09-13T07:30:50+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/758 Ayurvedic Management of Stanagranthi w.s.r. to Fibroadenoma of the Breast: A Single Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:54+00:00 Santosh Kumar drsantosh.rbsk@gmail.com Kamini Dhiman kd44ayu@yahoo.co.in
Fibroadenoma is one of the most common benign breast tumors, predominantly affecting women of reproductive age. In Ayurvedic medicine, such growths are analogous to Stanagranthi, a subtype of benign tumour localized in the breast. In this case, a hetero-echoic lesion measuring approximately 10 × 6 mm was observed at the 12 O'clock position of the right breast, along with another similar lesion measuring 9.4 × 5.4 mm. A BIRADS-III categorization was noted. Additionally, a cystic lesion measuring approximately 7 × 7 mm was found at the 2 o'clock position in the left breast. This case study describes the Ayurvedic management of a diagnosed fibroadenoma through an integrative treatment plan that incorporates Shodhana (bio-purification) and Shamana (palliative therapy). The patient was administered a personalized Ayurvedic regimen based on the individual's dosha imbalance and the pathological features of the Granthi. Over the course of one year, the patient experienced a marked reduction in symptoms, an improved quality of life, and a measurable decrease in lump size, which in some cases led to complete resolution, as confirmed through clinical palpation and imaging. As a result, surgical intervention was not required. This case demonstrates the potential efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment protocols in the non-surgical management of benign breast tumors such as fibroadenoma. The findings support the need for further clinical research to validate and standardize Ayurvedic approaches in similar cases.
2025-09-13T08:24:56+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/753 Holistic Management of Compression Fracture of Vertebral Body: A Comprehensive Approach in Conjugation with mild diffused Osteoporosis: A Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:55+00:00 Shravani U Mahajan shravani12mahajan@gmail.com Digvijay T. These fractures cause intense discomfort, impaired activity, loss of autonomy, and markedly worsened quality of life. In Ayurveda, the condition is identical to Katishoola, one of the eighty forms of Nanatmaja Vata Vyadhi mentioned by Acharya Charaka. In the present study, a 52-year-old patient had complaints of an unbearable shooting type of pain in the lower back region along with a tingling sensation and weakness in bilateral lower limbs. Pain gets aggravated on movements like bending or twisting. An X-ray of the lumbosacral spine revealed a compression fracture of the L2 vertebral body. The patient was managed with Kati Basti, Matra Basti, Shaman Aushadhi (oral Ayurvedic medications), and Shaman Snehapana. After treatment, there was a significant reduction in pain assessed by the Visual Analog Score (VAS), improvement in the Straight leg raising test, Oswestry low back pain index, and the low back outcome score (LBOS). In the classical texts of Ayurveda, various terms have been used to describe this condition such as Nashtartava by Sushruta, Anartava by Vagbhata, absence of Raja by Bhela, and Rajonasha by Bhavaprakash. Analyzing these references, it can be inferred that the main causes include Mithya Ahara and Mithya Vihara (improper diet and lifestyle of the mother during pregnancy and of the woman during her reproductive years), Beeja Dosha (genetic abnormalities), and Dushtartava (hormonal imbalances). Anartava is also mentioned as a symptoms of various Yonivyapadas such as Arajaska/Lohitkshaya, Shushka, Shandhi and Vandhya. While Acharyas described it more as a symptom due to the margavarodha of Apana vata by aggrevated Kapha which disrupts the production of Artava and also delays the outflow of Artava, it brings about a significant impact on female fertility. The absence of menstruation during the active reproductive age is a stressful feeling that needs careful understanding and management. Modern medicine offers mainly hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which has reported side effects, whereas Ayurveda provides a comprehensive approach, including internal medication, Panchakarma therapy, mainly Vamana, Yoga basti, Uttara basti, dietary corrections and lifestyle modifications. Most of the time subclinical hypothyroidism is asymptomatic; however, some may exhibit mild symptoms typically of hypothyroidism. According to research, approximately 2–5% of individuals with subclinical hypothyroidism progress to overt hypothyroidism each year. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition can be correlated with Rasapradoshaja Vikara, where there is vitiation of Kapha dosha and impairment of Rasavaha srotas, often manifesting as Agnimandya(~Weak digestion), tandra(~Drowsiness), and gourava(~Heaviness). This condition is characterized by a depletion of ovarian reserves and residual follicles, leading to a hypo estrogenic state. Patients may present with amenorrhea, menstrual irregularities, and infertility, which can significantly impact their quality of life. The prevalence of POI is estimated to be 1% of the female population. It is diagnosed by amenorrhea or oligomenorrhoea lasting at least four months and two separate measurements of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels exceeding 25 IU/l, taken four weeks apart. The underlying cause may be impaired germ cell migration during the intrauterine period or accelerated germ cell apoptosis, resulting in few or no follicles in the ovaries. This single case study details a 34-year-old female with a four-month history of absent periods and other associated symptoms. The study evaluates her response to an Ayurvedic treatment plan, recording symptomatic reduction from secondary amenorrhea, like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood swings. Meniscal tears are among the most common orthopaedic injuries, particularly affecting athletes and the elderly, often resulting in pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. While conventional treatment typically includes surgery or physiotherapy, surgical interventions do not always restore previous levels of activity. This case study explores the management of a knee meniscus injury through Ayurvedic treatment, specifically using the Scientific Reveral Detox Treatment (SRDP) protocol—a holistic, non-invasive approach grounded in dosha balance. The treatment included internal herbal medications and external therapies such as Lepa (herbal paste application), Jalaukavacharan (~leech therapy), Basti (~medicated enema), and physiotherapy, targeting Vata dosha imbalance often associated with joint disorders. A 52-year-old female patient presented with pain and swelling in the right knee, with a history of trauma dating back to 2013 and worsening symptoms over the past 7–8 months. MRI findings confirmed a Grade 3 flap tear in the posterior horn and a Grade 1 signal tear in the lateral meniscus of right knee. Following a structured SRDP treatment protocol, follow-up MRI indicated an improvement in the meniscal condition, with the Grade 3 tear reduced to Grade 2. This outcome suggests that Ayurvedic SRDP treatment may play a beneficial role in reducing symptoms and promoting structural recovery in meniscal injuries. A 44-year-old married female presented to the Outpatient Department on January 7, 2025, with a 6-month history of lower abdominal pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, burning micturition, and vaginal white discharge, accompanied by anxiety and disturbed sleep. She had no significant past medical or family history. Investigations revealed a bulky uterus with two intramural fibroids, left renal concretions, and a right renal medullary cyst. She was diagnosed with intramural uterine fibroid (modern diagnosis) and Garbhashayagata Granthi (Ayurvedic diagnosis). A three-month Ayurvedic regimen was initiated, comprising classical formulations such as Kanchanar Guggulu-500mg 2 tab twice a day for 12 weeks and Kumaryasava 15 ml twice a day with equal water after a meal for 12 weeks, along with dietary and lifestyle modifications. Post-treatment evaluation demonstrated marked clinical improvement, with resolution of heavy bleeding and urinary symptoms, normalization of menstrual duration, disappearance of renal abnormalities, and reduction in fibroid size. This case highlights the potential effectiveness of Ayurvedic management in addressing uterine fibroids and associated symptoms.
2025-09-13T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/770 Ayurvedic Management of Sarvangavata : A Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:58+00:00 Vinitha C drvinithasujith@gmail.com Vani CH vcheruvodan@gmail.com
Sarvangavata, a vataja nanathmaja vikara, is a disorder where the vitiated vata takes abode in almost all parts of the body and produce various symptoms. Acharya Sushruta, the pioneer of Ayurvedic surgery, detailed the pathophysiology, classification, and treatment of Ashmari, emphasizing the use of Sastra Karma (surgical methods) for its management. The aim of the study is to discuss the Ayurvedic principles of bladder stone treatment and their integration with modern surgical procedures, specifically suprapubic cyst lithotomy. In this case report, a 60 years old male patient came to Shalya Tantra OPD with complaints of pain at lower abdomen associated with burning micturition, straining during urination, dribbling and urgency for last one year. On general examination tenderness in the suprapubic region. The abdomen distention (on/off) due to urinary retention. On local examination tenderness was present in the suprapubic region, which exacerbated by palpation or percussion. The patient had difficulty in initiating or maintaining urination. USG Abdomen, was suggestive of urinary bladder calculus with changes of chronic cystitis. So this urinary bladder calculus was treated with Suprapubic cystolithotomy under Spinal anesthesia. Post-operative care using herbal formulations such as Gokshuradi Guggulu (1 gm TDS) play a crucial role in ensuring proper recovery and minimizing recurrence. The study highlights the potential of integrating Ayurvedic principles with modern surgical advancements to enhance patient outcomes. Further research and clinical trials are recommended to validate the effectiveness of Ayurvedic interventions in post-surgical care and stone recurrence prevention.
2025-09-15T07:49:23+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/741 Individualized Homoeopathy in the treatment of Gallbladder Polyp with Grade II Isolated Systolic Hypertension: A Single Case Report 2025-09-16T18:36:58+00:00 Patranu Parui patranuparui@gmail.com Soumyanath Mallik soumyanathmallik94@gmail.com Debmoy Nandi debmoy.nandi00@gmail.com Neelavna Dey drneelavnadey@gmail.com Debashis Biswas drdebasishbiswas@gmail.com
Gallbladder polyps are usually asymptomatic and detected incidentally during abdominal ultrasonography (USG). Irrespective of size, these polyps are considered an indication of surgical removal. A 28-year-old female presented with occasional cutting pain in right hypochondrial region for the last 4 months. Abdominal USG revealed the presence of multiple gallbladder polyps with largest one measuring 3.7 mm, with grade II isolated systolic hypertension. The patient was advised for cholecystectomy, but she opted for homoeopathic treatment to avoid surgery. At the first visit, homoeopathic medicine Nux vomica was prescribed and the patient was followed up periodically for 6 months. USG after 03 months of treatment revealed that the gallbladder polyps were not present and her liver, kidney functions and uterus were normal as per investigations. Her blood pressure also reduced to the normal range. Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homoeopathy score (+8 on the ‘−6–+13’ scale) assesses if the improvement of the patient can be attributed to the homoeopathic treatment provided. Its development involves a combination of genetic predispositions and environmental influences, resulting in dysfunctions of both the skin barrier and the immune system. This long-term condition, characterized by persistent itching, typically begins in infancy and is marked by dry skin, eczematous rashes, and thickened, leathery areas known as lichenification. Atopic dermatitis is thought to be linked with other Ig E-mediated conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, and food allergies. It carries a considerable burden on health and quality of life, and its prevalence seems to have been rising in recent decades. Genetic factors involved include loss-of-function mutations in the filaggrin gene a key epidermal protein that degrades into components essential for the skin’s natural moisturizing processes.Atopic dermatitis is a chronic relapsing inflammatory skin condition characterized by intense pruritis, erythema, xerosis and lichenification. It commonly begins in childhood but can persist or recur in adulthood, significantly impairing quality of life.Atopic dermatitis is associated with other atopic conditions such as allergic rhinitis and asthma, and its prevalence is rising globally, making it a significant public health concern. Conventional management with topical steroids, antiseptics, and dietary supplements often provides temporary relief and is associated with recurrence and potential adverse effects. Unani medicine offers a holistic approach by addressing humoral imbalances through a combination of herbal formulations, dietary regulation, and lifestyle modifications. This report presents the case of a 35-year-old male with recurrent painful oral ulcers persisting for two weeks despite using antiseptic mouthwashes and analgesics. A Unani regimen was instituted, consisting of Jawarish Kamuni (5 gm orally twice daily for 15 days), Zurūr-i-Qulā‘ (topical application thrice daily for 15 days), dietary modifications (avoidance of spicy foods, consumption of cooling foods), and lifestyle advice (maintenance of oral hygiene and adequate hydration). Significant symptomatic relief was achieved within seven days of treatment, and complete ulcer healing occurred by the end of two weeks. No recurrence was observed during the three-month post-treatment follow-up, nor were any treatment-related adverse events reported. The therapeutic efficacy of prescribed Unani medications may be attributed to their analgesic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cicatrizing, and digestive-enhancing properties. This case highlights the potential of Unani medicine as an effective alternative for aphthous stomatitis. Conventional treatments provide only short-term relief and are often associated with adverse effects. Prolonged use of corticosteroids can cause serious adverse effects, antihistamines offer only partial control of pruritus, and systemic drugs or phototherapy are costly and carry significant risks. Moreover, these therapies fail to address the psychological component of the itch scratch cycle, leading to frequent relapses. This case report highlights the successful use of Unani therapy in an adult female patient with LSC associated with depression, demonstrating significant clinical improvement. A 42-year-old female presented with a three-year history of itchy, hyper-pigmented, lichenified plaque over the right ankle and dorsum of the foot. She had previously undergone allopathic treatment with minimal relief. The patient was prescribed with Unani therapy comprising 10 gm of oral Majoon Najah for depression and topical Marham-e-Ra’al (twice daily) for one month. Assessment was done clinically and through validated tools, including the Physician global assessment scale (PGA) and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), at baseline and after one month of treatment. Marked resolution of lesions and pruritus was observed, with notable improvement in depressive symptoms. The therapy was well tolerated, and no adverse effects were reported. This case suggests that Unani therapy may serve as a safe, effective, and culturally acceptable alternative for managing neurodermatitis. However, further controlled studies are needed to confirm its broader efficacy.
2025-09-15T08:17:04+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/801 Efficacy of Compound Unani Formulations in the Management of ‘Kathrat-i-Tamth’ (Menorrhagia): A Case Study 2025-09-16T18:37:00+00:00 H.A.A. Significant improvement was observed within 15 days, with complete cessation of heavy bleeding. Follow-up showed normalized cycle duration, absence of clots, and enhance haemoglobin levels. This case demonstrates that a tailored Unani formulation can effectively manage menorrhagia secondary to endometrial hyperplasia by leveraging the astringent, haemostatic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-proliferative properties of its ingredients, offering a viable non-surgical and non-hormonal treatment option. This case report is justified as it provides valuable clinical evidence for the application of traditional Unani medicine in treating a complex gynaecological condition (menorrhagia due to endometrial hyperplasia) that did not respond to conventional treatments. It documents a successful, non-hormonal, and non-surgical interventional strategy, highlighting the potential of integrative medicine. This case report presents a 37-year-old male with a 4-year history of recurrent cutaneous allergic reactions, manifesting as widespread urticarial wheals, mild angioedema, and rhinitis. The patient's symptoms were refractory to conventional treatments, including antihistamines and corticosteroids. Siddha medicine attributes the pathophysiology of chronic urticaria to gastrointestinal imbalance and psychological factors. The patient underwent Siddha management to alleviate symptoms associated with Pitham and Kabham. Siddha leech therapy is considered a promising treatment for dermatological conditions. Along with oral medication and three sessions of Siddha leech therapy with a gap of 6 days between sessions over 24 days, the patient experienced significant alleviation of pruritus, rash formation, and irritability. No adverse reactions were observed at the site of the leech therapy. Recent studies have demonstrated that leech saliva contains bioactive peptides and proteins with antithrombotic, antiplatelet, and antimicrobial properties. A systematic review indicated that bloodletting was more efficacious than pharmaceutical interventions in managing chronic urticaria, with comparable response rates and no significant adverse events. A core principle of Ayurveda’s approach to Pashu Vigyana (animal science) is the compassionate and ethical treatment of all living beings. Animals are not only sources of food and therapeutic products, but their body parts and by-products are also used in traditional Ayurvedic remedies. Preclinical research plays a crucial role in biomedical studies, where new drugs, treatments, and toxicity levels are first tested on animals before moving to human trials. While Ayurveda has addressed aspects of use of animals and animal products in therapy, animal care, there is still a lack of systematic work concerning veterinary practices and the use of animals in laboratory research. This manuscript seeks to explore the role and status of animal science within the framework of Ayurveda. Information was gathered from classical Ayurvedic texts and online resources, then organized and presented in a structured manner. Ayurveda emphasizes compassionate treatment for all living organisms. Historically, animal sciences were well-developed in forms such as Go Ayurveda (focused on cows), Ashwa Ayurveda (horses), and Hastya Ayurveda (elephants). Ancient Ayurvedic literature contains detailed insights into animal care, classifications, ethics, health management, therapeutic uses, and the application of animal-derived substances in medicine. To advance laboratory animal research in the Ayurvedic context, greater awareness and scientific rigor are needed. This initiative aims to encourage young researchers to engage with and further develop animal science in Ayurveda.
2025-09-16T05:41:02+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ijacare.in/index.php/ijacare/article/view/760 Conceptual Study of Annavaha Srotas and its Viddha lakshana with special reference to Andhya: Short Communication 2025-09-16T18:37:02+00:00 Kinjal Deokar deokarkinjal@gmail.com Deependra Singh Rathore ds3403010@gmail.com Rita Marwaha marwaharita@gmail.com Nisha Bhalerao nmandalik10@gmail.com
Annavaha Srotas (gastrointestinal channels) are essential for the food and sustenance of all bodily tissues, including ocular structures. Ayurveda emphasizes the link between digestion, systemic health, and ocular problems, including blindness. According to classical Ayurvedic writings, vitiation of annavaha srotas caused by poor food, lifestyle, and aggravated doshas can result in inadequacies impacting eye health. This paper examines the pathogenic involvement of annavaha srotas in ocular illnesses, particularly blindness, using Ayurvedic concepts and comparing them to modern medical discoveries. In modern medicine, blindness is frequently connected with nutritional deficits, metabolic problems, and degenerative illnesses of the optic nerve and retina. Vitamin A deficiency, diabetic retinopathy, and ischemic optic neuropathy have been related to malnutrition and metabolic dysfunctions, supporting Ayurveda's theory of diminished agni (digestive fire) leading to systemic illnesses.
